Mark Huot
Technology & Development Director
As Technology & Development Director, Mark is responsible for recommending and implementing strategic technology approaches for Happy Cog’s projects. He also develops and customizes content management systems ranging from personal blogging tools to enterprise-scale e-commerce systems. He has built large-scale editorial management systems for busy news rooms, developed custom applications, modules, and plugins, and optimized server infrastructure. All along the way, Mark’s unique ability to incorporate strict web standards throughout the back-end development process creates intuitive systems that are stable, compatible, secure, and fast.
Mark graduated from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA with a BS degree in Digital Media. At Drexel, he learned the concepts behind web standards using Jeffrey Zeldman’s Designing with Web Standards as a textbook. Since then, he has been a staunch advocate for creating systems that adhere to the standards and best practices Happy Cog evangelizes.
On the side, Mark enjoys working in Flash and JavaScript, as well as writing for The Nerdary about web-related topics of all kinds. He can occasionally be found on Twitter rambling on about programming, New England, or the Boston Red Sox.
